Journey To China

Travel with us as we journey to China to meet and bring home Margaret Virginia Mei (Maggie) and Mary Henley Yi (Mary Henley). We will document our travel via this blog site...we hope you enjoy keeping up with the Seven Sims!

Mark 9:36 - He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, "Whoever welcomes one of these little ones in my name, welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."

Home Sweet Home!!!

Meritt and I are so blessed to have SO many good friends and family!  Here are just a few who made the trek to the airport...special thanks to Mr. Randy (the handsome one in the back left), who was kind enough to celebrate his birthday by driving his family to the airport and then driving our luggage home to us.
Marshall (our oldest), his bride to be Rachel, and Macey (our daughter)...and now Maggie and Mary Henley's best friend...they have really taken to her!
Here we come...a nice picture of us (all of the airport pictures were taken by Jody...thanks!) making our way through the airport to meet our family and friends!
Can you say overwhelmed!  The girls didn't know what hit them with all the attention they received...it was awesome and really helped make them feel loved!
The one in the stylish flower ensemble holding Macey's hands is Bella (Jody and Rick's little girl they adopted from GZ over a year ago)...Maggie and Mary Henley have been carrying her picture around with them for quite some time now and were VERY excited to finally meet her.
Well here's six of the Sims Seven...Matt had a middle-school basketball game last night, which they won!
Bella, Jody, Maggie, Meritt and Mary Henley...I see many, many play dates in the future for this group!  And, unfortunately for Mr. Rick and me...it may also mean many, many shopping trips too!
Bella with her welcome home sign for the girls and two precious panda dolls...the girls slept with them last night...very sweet!
And finally to our house where the girls got introduced to their room...and of course the dress up cloths, which include many tiara's...which we had to put on immediately.  Note Meritt's got hers on too... the princess is home!
Macey (and tiara) making sure the girls know they have princess slippers as well...which made a lovely sound scurrying across the bathroom floor at 4:30am this morning when the girl's internal alarm clock woke them up.  Thank goodness for Macey...she got up with them and they have been playing together all morning long.
And, of course no princess outfit is complete without a magic wand!

 ...and tutu's
 ...and slippers...learning to walk in high-heel slippers...always a challenge!
...and then it was go time!
Awesome pictures of all the Sims kids plus Rachel at the kitchen table...
 and in the kid's den...
...the family's complete...at least for now!  :)

Meritt and I are so excited to be home with our family...the smiles above warm our hearts!

And with our friends...who kept us going while we were overseas...and who we know will help us to continue to shepherd the lives of these precious gifts He has so graciously blessed us with!

Love,

Meritt and Mike

  3. I've loved following your journey to get your precious daughters. (We are a fellow PCS family and I know Meritt through mutual friends.) I can already see how they have blossomed in the weeks that they have been in your arms. It's amazing what love can do--what God can do! Rejoicing with the Sims Seven! Much love to your sweet family!

  6. Hi Guys!!! We totally stalked your blog from Jody's.....when you guys left GZ I thought....!?!? I have no information....I can't keep in touch. I was so excited to find that you have a blog. So glad you guys made it home and the girls look like it fits just right! We are home too! Praise the Lord! When we got Qwinn out of the car and brought her in the house she just kept squealing with excitement. Anthony tried to call her by her Chinese name yesterday and she shook her head "no" she wants to be Qwinn. We were so blessed to have met you guys and looks like we have all been blessed with some amazing gifts from God.

    Best,
    Amy & Anthony Rotger

  7. What a wonderfully detailed blog about your journey! I learned a lot. :) My sister shared your site with me- my sister's sister-in-law is Tammie St. John. We are also using Lifeline- we are leaving in 2 weeks to bring home our 2 little girls too. A little younger, both from Maoming. I hope they adjust as well as yours did! You can see their pictures here: http://dontyouwantyourown.blogspot.com

    Congratulations and welcome home!

  8. Hi! A friend of a friend forwarded me your blog as our little girl is waiting for us at Hefei CWI. We hope to travel this May. Just wondering if you have any more pictures of your time there that you might be willing to share. There is a yahoo group of adoptive parents from Hefei if you are interested in joining us- since there haven't been many adoptions from there in the past couple years, the group is just getting going again. Most of us are still waiting to travel. Congrats on your two new beautiful girls! Christina
